Vienna City Breaks in the World’s Capital of Music

It is hard to find anywhere as dynamic and vibrant in Europe as can be said for the stunning Austrian city of Vienna.

Famous for its upbeat music scene and independently owned record labels, Vienna is a hive of originality, harbouring break through artists and fresh sounds. Possibly one of the things that make Vienna
so remarkable is its outstanding musical heritage. Not only does the city currently stand as one of the most cultured regions in Europe, it has laid claim to some of the finest artists and musicians for centuries. After all Musical prodigies such as  MozartBeethoven, BrahmsMahler and Haydn have worked and lived here.

Vienna’s spectacular grand palaces with baroque styled interiors, museums and squares attract thousands of visitors every year from all over the world. This musical association makes us forget that Vienna also holds some of the most dynamic urban spaces in Europe. Both tourists and the public enjoy spending the summer evenings strolling through the parks and sitting in the many cafe’s shadowed beneath the imposing basalt façade of the surrounding buildings. Nearby courtyards and bars are buzzing on summer evenings with groups of friends enjoying a quiet drink before heading out to the city’s many nightclubs.

Vienna
is a place where Austro-Asian cuisine is at the forefront of most of the city’s restaurants menus. There is a great sense of a multi-cultural society in the city with a variety of shops, restaurants and people from around the world.
This provides visitors with many options when it comes to places to shop, with world renowned brands culminating to provide some of the best shopping squares in Europe.

Passport Fiasco

While waiting for my boarding pass in the airport on my return trip from South Africa, I felt extremely happy to be returning home to India. When my turn arrived, I was asked to hand in my passport I put my hand in my handbag confidently knowing that it had to be there. But it was only minutes before I realized that the precious blue book was missing.

Passport Processors Hard At Work

Passport Processors Hard At Work!

Losing a passport is a more common phenomenon than losing one’s wallet. Thankfully there are better measures that are taken to revive a lost passport than get back a lost wallet. So the next time your passport gets lost, follow the steps given below:

(1)               Contact the police immediately

Once you realize that you have lost your passport, be it in the airport or railway station, contact the police immediately. They will register your information and refer you to your respective embassy. They may also take your statement in the form of a legal document, which will enable you to extend your stay in a foreign land without a passport when you are waiting for a new one.

(2)               Consult the Embassy

Once you have reached your country’s embassy make sure that you speak to the correct department, one that can help you get you a new passport. They will give you a list of documents that will be required to get a new passport. The most common things required are two recent passport size photographs which can be got locally from anywhere. The embassy will require you to fill in documents with information that was available in your previous passport. Once you pay for this new passport, you get this temporary passport, you have to swear an oath saying that the information provided is truly yours and then sign on some papers. You are allowed to use this temporary passport only for a period of 90 days within which you can issue a more permanent one, for which you will not have to pay anything more.

(3)               Contact the Airlines Authority

Since you could not have booked your flight without the passport, you will have to hop on to a new one. To get away with paying less, contact the airlines authorities and tell them about your situation. They will replace your ticket for which you will not have to pay the price of a new ticket but much less.

(4)               Do not misplace your second passport

A new and temporary passport can only be issued once, so hold on to it because if you lose this one, the application process for another passport becomes more difficult than what it was the first time. Besides losing passports frequently often leads to suspicion among authorities into thinking that you may be involved in some illegal activities.

Losing a passport and going through the various processes is a dreadful experience, so protect yourself by carrying a copy of the passport and not the original document. Take all the measures so that you do not lose your passport ever again.

Which Sunscreen Are You Taking On Your Vacation?

In June, 2011, an article was featured on another one of my blog sites, entitled “Sunscreens Are Damaging Our Planet” .  I hope you’ll take the time to learn about this important subject and take measures to adjust what you do in your everyday life and when you’re on vacation.

This article opened my eyes to the slow destruction humans have done over the years, particularly through traveling.  I didn’t realize until I did the research how important the coral reef systems are and how it is being slowly destroyed unknowingly, just by the chemical-based sunscreen and sunblock products that people use when they’re swimming, snorkeling, surfing, jet-skiing and scuba-diving.

The source of most of that article and my awareness was a result of learning about the nasty crap in most sunscreen and sunblock products – the ones you buy at Walmart, Target, the grocery store, and even some of the sunscreens and sunblocks on the market that claim to be “pure, natural, safe for the environment, yadda, yadda”.

I applaude (and I hope you will as well) the work done by the people behind companies like Envy Organics who make it their life’s work to produce suncreens, sunblocks and other everyday beauty products with ONLY the most natural ingredients – the ones that God put on this earth (He knew what he was doing!)

Envy Organics Suncare Travel SetYou can buy these all natural, organically-based sunscreen, sunblock and everyday beauty products through my website (the travel set pictured to the left comes in convenient travel-size bottles which are approved by TSA as carry-on.  It comes with:  SPF 8, SPF 15, Pure Aloe & Tea Tree Recovery Gel and Rose Hip Aloe Lotiona After Sun Skin Conditioner).  If you happen to stay at one of 200+ resorts including Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, Sandals & Beaches, you will find the same high-quality products under a different name (Absolutely Natural).

Let’s all be better stewards of this earth…

We are stewards of God’s earth, ruling over that which is not ours. “You [God] made humans ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under our feet: All flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas,” Ps 8:6-8.
